To make sure that our garden centre team can meet the demands of the garden centres that do business with us, we have special production facilities to provide us with the imported specimen plants for our sales to garden centres.
Among over 150 hectares in production at six specialist centres in Yorkshire, growing and selling over 10 million plants every year are increased production facilities for sales to garden centres with a range of home-grown wholesale plants specially grown for British gardens and the British climate.
Growing for your garden centre
Our specimen plants and amenity plants are regularly pruned back to promote new growth: the more this is done in the early stages of the growing process, the better the eventual plant. The Whixley propagation unit extends to 4Ha with state of the art propagation facilities. That way, we ensure the excellent quality of the plants we grow for your garden centre.
Most nurseries are cutting back on their propagation facilities. At Johnsons of Whixley we are still investing in ours since they are such an important part of our process. Controlling the beginning of the plant's life ensures we finish up with quality plants such as hedging plants, box plants, garden shrubs, garden plants in general that make our garden centre customers bloom.
